75 (who?)
*this version to be moved to scraps when fully completed*

Five layers, seventy-seven frames, five MCs, one replay button and two and a half hours... and this is all I end up with. I didn't even finish the lineart for all frames of his hair. And I plan on coloring it. I'm absolutely insane. Forgive me if I don't put this much effort into my Zexion project, that's too much to ask. o_O

When I color it there will be blood on his hand down the one side of his face. Can you guess? (I know at the moment its all "OMG I HAVE A HAND!!! O_O"....... but it will eventually be, "Oh, cool, when did all that blood get there?")

I consider this "practice" and "fun" and its like 102 degrees (F) outside, probably five or six more inside my un-airconditioned apartment. I have a cold bottle of water next to me and my music on almost full blast... and I'm sitting here not wearing a whole lot because its just too hot for clothes (not that you need to know that)... and I'm working on this insane project for no one but myself. And I'm happy. Something must seriously be wrong with me. The heat is getting to me.

Anyway, this animation was inspired by a scene in an AMV for Elfen Lied. If you can actually identify it, mind telling me which episode I took this scene from and recreated as animation practice?

This moves pretty smoothly. With a few jumps and the unfinished hair aside, this is really cool! 8D

(FFFFFFFFFFFFF You make me so jealous with your animations and interactive stuff.... I'm 21, never taken any art classes, don't own any art programs except for a free download of GIMP, and I wish that I could ANIMATE like you do... T____T)

I need to get my butt to a community college and take some art classes and get to learn how to animate... I need an animating program... Even if I have to draw it frame for frame with NO layers, I still want to do it. D8<

You're sort of an idol to me--that ONE next step that I wish I was ON already. I already KNOW how to animate and make sequences smooth, but I just don't have the technical know-how or the programs! DX Rawr, being poor freakin sucks...

Good news: Flash has layers!
Bad news: Flash is horrible for coloring anything.

Sketching doodles and animating them before going over them with solid lines is very easily done.

Flash, sadly, has been eaten up by a money grubbing company and I don't feel like paying for the newest version each and every time it updates. I use something ten versions and nearly eight years out of date. I don't feel bad that I didn't pay a dime for it - its not like they sell the version I'm using anymore. Even the very first version before it switched companies has all the basic feature an animator needs, it just makes one feel bad to sniff around the shady side of the 'net to obtain the old versions of the program and keys to get them to work. I'm using a friend's, but there also random number generators that work. -w- But hell if I want to pay $300 for something I'm never going to make a dime from.

And while I did take art classes, animation was never covered, and not much that I was taught was relevant to me at the time. I took a few lessons to heart from the class... but its nothing I needed an art class to teach me, just the time set aside. My first realism pictures sucked, but years later the proportions for where things belong on a face helped me develop my own style. Temperature shading was interesting... but the most important thing I learned was simply to take a break and come back to a project at a later date so you can spot your own mistakes and fix them before they bother you later.

I mostly just enjoyed working with different mediums that the art teacher had for us.

I've heard nothing but bad news from all the people who took art classes in high school. How it's pointless and the rules and grading systems suck. How the teachers can't recognize talent if it stood up and bitch slapped them across the face... XD I'm just glad I didnt waste my time in my school's lousy art classes. And anyway, I do all kinds of fun stuff by myself.

I challenge myself to use different mediums all the time. I took a year of ceramics and had a BLAST because I got to do whatever I wanted and my teacher worshiped me as the greatest artist in the class! XD I've got some fun stuff from that ceramics class. I also took a semester of metal workshop because I wanted to play with all the huge machinery! I was the only girl in the class, but I made the most skillful sheet metal projects because I'm OCD with measurements and cutting. XD

At home, I'm trying ways to make art. I'm about to try some watercolors, but I'm still debating it. I just teach myself whatever I want, but my strong points are graphite and charcoal. My colored pencil work turns out better than anything I try to color in GIMP. I CAN color in GIMP, but it's difficult and annoying because GIMP sucks. It's practically Paint just with layers and the option for opacity.

Yay for pirating. That's all I'll say for now because I don't wanna get in trouble. <333 I know a guy who can do ANYTHING. He's like the Blackbeard of the internet.

Always just easier to say you got it from a friend.

Is it sad that my brother-in-law in the military (now overseas doing filming for future documentary purposes, of course) had this realllly awesome high-tech video editing software that he volunteered to sneak me a copy of? xD Ended up not having time to in the short time I saw him. I hardly know my sister's husband (never got along well with that particular sister...), but he sure was nice.

I say that if someone hands you something as a gift, just smile and nod. Don't ask, don't tell. So long as it's not a packet of drugs or a fat stack of cash, it's all cool.

Well, I mean, I still have guilty feelings... But only a bit. Besides those people charge you out the BUTT for a program that's only going to be cool for 3 months MAX and then expect you to buy another program! They can AFFORD to support some illegal downloads and burned copies.

Besides, you're not using it to make any sort of money for your own, so who the heck cares what program you use to make an image? It's not like you're designing logos for big-name companies. You're a fan artist on dA. It's not big deal. <333
